Bowmanstown area residents logged in to install mural in tunnel – Times News Online

After a long process of discussion, grant writing and collaboration, Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected will hang the first part of a mural in the tunnel under Highway 248.

There will be a community painting day Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowmanstown. All minors must be accompanied by an adult and masks are mandatory for all participants. The finished mural will be hung on Wednesday.

This project, developed through the partnership of Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected and the D&L National Heritage Corridor, was funded through combined grants from Pocono Forests & Waters Conservation Landscape, through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources and the Regional Commission of the Appalachians.

The artist, Carrie Kingsbury, owner of Promiseland Murals, painted the mural on parachute gear in her studio, then will bring it here for Community Painting Day.

Kingsbury has been a full-time mural painter since 1999 when she started Promiseland Murals. She has many large commercial, community and residential projects in her portfolio such as Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Julius Silvert and Davita Headquarters, several restaurants and several murals. historic sites in Berwyn, Malvern and Hamburg. , Pennsylvania.

She has also been a volunteer art teacher for a Girl Scouting program since 1994. She will teach our local residents painting techniques as they become part of this mural creation, where they can view their work for years to come. come and be proud of a community. of which they are part.

The scene will be a compilation of local flora and fauna, including endangered species, and will be produced in conjunction with the Lehigh Gap Nature Center’s projected mural to create an artistic continuity connected by the D&L National Heritage Corridor Trail . BARC continues to raise funds for the completion of the project, which will require two more panels costing $ 4,000 each.
