Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi wins bid to host 37th World Veterinary Association Congress

ABU DHABI, 21st January, 2022 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi has been selected by the World Veterinary Association as the host for the 37th edition of its prestigious annual congress taking place for the first time in the Middle East.

Taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from March 29-31, 2022, the event will be hosted by the Emirates Veterinary Association, bringing together industry leaders and the global veterinary community to showcase and discuss the latest innovations in the field.

The capital of the United Arab Emirates was chosen following a rigorous selection process involving several competing destinations from around the world. The winning bid was jointly submitted by the Emirates Veterinary Association, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC) and Abu Dhabi Exhibition and Convention Bureau (ADCEB).

Sheikha Alyazia bint Sultan Al Nahyan, Honorary President of the Emirates Veterinary Association, said: “Veterinary medicine is an important national need in the United Arab Emirates, and our country recognizes the importance and necessity of veterinary medicine for its ability to ensure human security. The specialty of veterinary medicine has become one of the national needs that is part of the country’s major development projects, where veterinary care ensures the health of all animals, humans and society, due to that they prevent diseases and epidemics and ensure the preservation of food security. Therefore, the UAE seeks to do more in the veterinary field by preparing national cadres in veterinary specialties and providing the country’s labor market with qualified veterinarians. We established the Emirates Veterinary Association in order to develop scientific thinking in the various fields of veterinary medicine and to establish national education and training programs for Emirati students as well as to support the skill development of veterinarians in the UAE . Our main objective in preparing for the congress is to bring together veterinarians from different parts of the world under one roof to exchange experiences and knowledge.”

Hosting this congress will allow us to raise awareness of the importance of the role of a veterinarian in ensuring the safety of animals and to provide investment opportunities for veterinary medicine. We also hope to encourage educational institutions and regulatory authorities to conduct further research in veterinary medicine. The congress also supports the UAE government’s efforts to develop sustainable agriculture and protect the health of flora and fauna in order to improve biosecurity and achieve food security, an area in which veterinarians play a key role. crucial role.
