Sanibel author Charles Sobczak will discuss the impact of escaped and introduced species on Florida’s native flora, fauna and marine life during a presentation hosted by Friends of the Pine Island Library. The presentation will look at invasive species that have arrived in Florida throughout recorded history.

Sobczak’s program encompasses mammals, birds, insects and fish, as well as plants. It will cover the environmental and financial costs of alien species.

This event will take place on Wednesday, March 9 at Pine Island United Methodist Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free and no reservation is required.

“If you are interested in Florida wildlife and the chaos these other animals have wreaked on our ecosystems, this is a conference you really want to attend,” said Sobczak.

Copies of Sobczak’s books will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.

Pine Island United Methodist Church is located at 5701 Pine Island Road, NW, Bokeelia.

For questions or more information about the presentation, please call or text Friends of the Pine Island Library at 239-454-9196.
