Imminent drilling start in the Cisolok geothermal work area
With the necessary permits in place and the equipment on site, the start of exploration drilling in the Cisolok-Cisukarame geothermal work area is about to begin.
As reported locally today, the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said the exploration drilling program for the Cisolok-Cisukarame geothermal power plant (PLTP) is ready to start.
All the requirements for exploration activities have been met. The head of the Mineral, Coal and Geothermal Resources Center of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Iman Sinulingga, said the Cisolok-Cisukarame prospect is one of the quick wins in the geothermal exploration program.
“The potential of the Cisolok-Cisukarame geothermal resource is estimated at 45 MW, with a PLTP development plan of 20 MW,” he said, quoted in an official statement.
Iman explained that before the start of drilling the exploration well of the Cisolok-Cisukarame prospect, his party had prepared documents on environmental management efforts (UKL), environmental monitoring efforts (UPL) and obtained approval. environment of the government of the Sukabumi regency.
In addition, his party also obtained a permit for the use and use of surface water from the Government of West Java, and an approval for the use of Geothermal Environmental Services (PJLPB) from the Ministry of Environment and Human Rights. Forests.
Meanwhile, in Law No. 21/2014 on Geothermal Energy and Law No. 11/2021 on Job Creation, it is stated that geothermal development activities which include operations of exploration, exploitation and production in conservation areas, including national parks, can be carried out in use areas. through the mechanism of using geothermal environmental services.
“By meeting the requirements for implementing geothermal exploration in forest areas, environmental documents in the form of UKL-UPL have also been prepared taking into account the initial baseline and aspects of environmental management , referring to regulations in the field of environment and forestry, “he explained.
In an effort to provide electricity for the welfare of the community, including the use of geothermal energy in national parks, the government also continues to pay attention to the preservation of conservation areas. “The geothermal exploration activities in the Cisolok-Cisukarame prospect, which are partly located in Mount Halimun Salak National Park, is one of the breakthroughs in providing clean energy to meet the needs of the community while being in synergy with the management of the area, ”he explained.
