Manchester derby for the Spanish international defender
This is according to a report in the Manchester Evening News, who claims United are most likely to move for the center-back as they aim to bolster their defense.
City invested significantly in Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake last summer, so he’s unlikely to market for another center-back, but the report adds that they maintain a strong admiration for Torres.
United are a more likely destination as they seek a long-term defensive partner for club captain Harry Maguire.
Torres has become a pillar at the heart of Villarreal’s defense, helping them finish in the top five last season alongside seven caps for the Spain national team.
It continues a strong build-up for the center-back, who entered the scene in the 2018/19 campaign when he played on a second tier loan from Malaga.
Spain boss Luis Enrique said about the defender late last year, according to Marca: “I like him as a left-handed central defender. It doesn’t condition me, but I have to admit that I like it. I like everything in Pau, because I like players who can carry the ball and I like his tactical sense.
“I like everything about him; he is tall, handsome and good-looking.
