NHPC and BSHPC sign pact for the establishment of a 130.1 MW hydroelectric project in Bihar, Energy News, ET EnergyWorld
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Monday between the public sector hydropower company NHPC and BSHPC for the implementation of the 130.1 MW Dagmara HE project in the Supaul district of Bihar, the energy ministry said in a statement.
The pact was signed and exchanged by the signatories in the presence of Union Energy Minister RK Singh and Bihar Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.
The MoU was signed by NHPC Director (Projects) Biswajit Basu on behalf of NHPC while BSHPC Director General Alok Kumar signed the document on behalf of the government of Bihar.
In his speech, the Minister of Energy of Bihar expressed his gratitude on behalf of the state government to the Ministry of Energy and NHPC for taking charge of the implementation of the Dagmara project.
He added that the project will bring comprehensive progress and development in the state.
NHPC Chairman and CEO AK Singh said the Dagmara HE project will be a flagship project in Bihar’s electricity sector scenario as it relates to green energy.
He added that in addition to generating clean and green energy, the execution will boost socio-economic and infrastructure development in the region and also create employment opportunities.
The 130.1 MW Dagmara HE project is to be implemented by NHPC on an ownership basis.
At present, NHPC has 24 operational power plants with a total installed capacity of 7,071 MW.
