GUWAHATI: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, Assam Himanta Biswa said that it has become necessary to protect our environment to meet the challenges posed by climate change. “On World Environment Day 2022, I reaffirm our government’s commitment to protecting our environment and urge everyone to do their own thing for it. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said it was a historic step towards environmental protection and the recently announced national park. would be another attempt by the state to protect its rich flora and fauna.

The notification declaring Raimona a national park was issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. He advised that the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 states that whenever it appears to the State Government that an area whether or not within the sanctuary is necessary due of its ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological or zoological union or importance. To be formed as a national park for the purpose of protecting, propagating or developing wildlife or its environment, Assam has the other five national parks – Kaziranga, Manas, Nameri, Orang and Dibru-Saikhowa. Environment and Forests Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya said the announcement made by the Chief Minister turned out to be a red day for the state and is good news for wildlife lovers, nature lovers and conservationists.
