Shane Duffy set to ‘prove people wrong’ after disappointing Celtic loan
“I feel like I have the right mindset to get through this.”
Republic of Ireland international Shane Duffy has said his desire to prove his skeptics wrong after enduring a scorching loan spell with Celtic so far this season.
The defender admitted he is going through a “sticky period” at the moment, but also insisted he has the “right mindset” to get through the situation.

Duffy arrived at Celtic Park last year on a one-season loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.
As the move was celebrated at the time, the 29-year-old struggled to make a positive impact at his new club.
The former Everton man’s displays saw him lose a regular place in Celtic’s starting XI.
Duffy: I want to prove people wrong.
However, despite his poor performance for the Bhoys, Duffy insists he will prove his skeptics wrong.
“If you had asked me 10 years ago, I probably wouldn’t have believed the career I have had and had,” the Irishman said on the Raise a bruise Podcast.
“I’m proud of myself for digging in there, especially when a lot of people doubt you.
“The satisfaction of proving people wrong is good, so I’m happy, I still feel like I have a lot more in me to prove people wrong again.
“I had a bit of a sticky patch per minute that happens to a lot of footballers.
“I feel like I have the right mindset to get out of it and like I said, I want to prove to people again that they are wrong and start over.”
Neil Lennon on Duffy.
Earlier this month, Celtic manager Neil Lennon explained Duffy’s poor form with the Hoops.
“I think he just struggled to settle down,” the 49-year-old told a press conference.
“He’s here all alone. Life away from the training ground is difficult for everyone, but especially for the guys who are alone.
“He’ll be the first to admit that he hasn’t been as good or as consistent as he can get. He will be massively disappointed because of how he feels about the club.
“But there is still time for him to find his best form by the end of the season.”
